Suicidal blended the genres more coherently than DRI (for better or worse) and were more influential but that's kind of an unfair to say since the influence between those bands is a two way street.

I already said that Joy Division was a potential legit refutation of my argument, but I'd still say that Metallica's influence on metal with their debut was more groundbreaking but that's impossible to calculate. So I'd say both are reasonably eye to eye.

I'd say both bands' influence was more in people making their thrash bands sound more or less like one of those bands rather than influencing people in the same way a lot of musicians influenced by Metallica in the early-mid 80s probably had a complete change in sound.

It’s an indefensible claim from start to finish. The first problem is putting The Ramones in some kind of slot with Metallica. He explained his point but still you just don’t do that.
