They're better than a lot of the other pretentious asshats in the genre, and in music in general. They didn't really take themselves too seriously, and that's one of the qualities I love about Rush.

That is something that makes them more tolerable than say Genesis, but it also makes them a bit less memorable than poofty bands who could pull it off like King Crimson or Yes. Not trying to throw shade on a dead dude just making conversation cause this forum is kinda slow. I am liking that sort of meat and potatoes prog that doesn't seem like it would sneer at someone who didn't even like prog these days though. Was just jamming like a mutha to Wishbone Ash's Argus the other day.

From 2112 to Grace Under Pressure every Rush record is 5/5 stars

Growing up, a lot of the other kids had parents, television, sports, after school activities and such. I had Rush.

Argus is a great album. Blowin Free is always in rotation.

Progressive Rock or Hard Rock? Rush seem to straddle the line between the two (sub) genres.

When Rush first started out they toured with AC/DC and Kiss. That is equivalent in today's terms as Rush being the nerd that hanged out with a date raper and a juggalo.

Which Rush album is good for someone who is into prog but not really into hard rock?
I've tried half a dozen times without getting into them but might try once again as well.
