Elf's problem isn't that he doesn't know other music exists - he just dislikes most of it to the point of despair.

The first thing I ever played on vinyl was For How Much Longer Do We Tolerate Mass Murder? and it was pretty rad. I could study to that **** all day. But I still ended up liking a lot of other things because it was more fun that way. There was also about a 4 year period where I only listened to progressive rock and nothing else. I know people who never leave that zone.

You probably could spend your whole life just on post-punk or free jazz and never run out of new artists to find tbf.

Yes ofc you're into **** that gets name dropped by punk books as influences on the genre. It's like me saying I don't just listen to metal cause I like Jimi Hendrix and King Crimson.
