Of course Mick Jagger is a dick wad and the Stones aged badly when you use the teenager criterium of how dangerous your parents think they are. But they just really groove, turning on a song of theirs is like a swaggering beast or machine that comes alive. That's unassailable.

![]() And since I'm in this thread, "Sandinista!" by The Clash is a single album's worth of exciting, memorable songs surrounded by two albums of boring, forgettable filler. |

Like The Beatles should've whittled the "White" album down to a single LP, The Clash should've whittled "Sandinista!" down to a single LP. As it is, 2/3 of the album is a tedious snooze-fest.

I'll take a streamlined, focused album over a bloated, experimental mess any day. Despite its experimentation, Sandinista! is still boring (unlike Exile on Main Street). It has a few gems, but is it worth listening to 2+ hours of drudgery to get them? Not really.

No, certainly I am not. I was making a general statement about Sandinista! and its problems. If I had to sit for 2+ hours and listen to a bloated mess though, I'll take Use Your Illusion 1/2 over Sandinista!.
