Radiohead confessions:

The Bends is better than OK Computer, especially the b-sides.

When OK Computer achieved so much critical and commercial success, I tried to distance myself from the band as much as possible. After purchasing the band's debut EP the month it was released, I felt it was woefully clichéd to mention Radiohead as a favourite band to others (and still do).

Radiohead's Kid A and Amnesiac are patchy affairs that could have collectively made a single great album.

Apart from 4-5 tracks, disposable.

I only own The Bends, OK Computer, In Rainbows and The King of Limbs, as well as most of their b-sides and one-off singles.

With Kid A and Amnesiac, I just downloaded the best tracks.

As long as one makes the distinction in their head between "taste" and "quality". And though you can have any "taste" you like, one can also have a "taste in quality".

No, you can't.

A true individual is someone who thinks for themselves and enjoys what best suits their individual tastes. No two people are the same.

Anyone who bases their personal tastes on what society and the media 'dictates' to them I would refuse to take seriously.

'Taste', 'quality'... semantics. Either way, it all comes down to one's personality and their personal perceptions.

Everyone does that to some extent though. Just take a look in your closet and tell me there's no societal influence in there. "A true individual" is a narcissistic fantasy.

No, there's societal awareness and societal influence. Big difference.

Besides, I'm referring to those whose tastes are largely determined by society and the media. My comments were never about the spectrum itself - only one end of it.
