I like the Needle and the Damage Done a lot. I don't care about the lyrics (or any of his lyrics really) but I like the guitar.
I also mainly like a bunch of his individual songs, more than the albums. My favourite Neil Young moment is the guitar at the end of When You Dance You Can Really Love (an otherwise pointless song except for the ooh-ooh's) because it's got something trashy and dirty about it in a delicious way and works well with the drumming. I love CNSY more than Neil solo, but only Déjà-Vu. The first album is dull after the first track. |

Yeah I disagree. "Every junkie's like a setting sun"? Who writes that kind of lyric? So deep and thoughtful.
I also highly rate "Four Strong Winds" and "Heart of Gold", even if they are very country-ish. Love "Harvest Moon" too. |
