I don't mean to be an assh*le but, you're an Enya fan, you're leaving yourself very vulnerable here.

But to be nice I'll go ahead and admit that I like The Eagles, maybe that'll spare you the ridicule because everyone will be too distracted with picking on me.

I don't get what the point is to ridicule people for their taste in music. Perhaps that's the whole basis of this forum and I joined without knowing, but taste is just that - taste. Neither yours or mine is any better from a universal perspective. There's no right or wrong when it comes to taste since it's all a matter of personal opinion.

If I say I don't like a certain band (or type of music), do people take that as a personal attack and an invite to start harping on people?

Exactly. Thanks.

Did I miss something? As far as I know, these all fall under my description. At least the power and symphonic tags. Also, I'm sure the 'sweedish','finish', and most of the 'celtic' tags are the same artists as some of the power/symphonic/viking metal tags.

Celtic would be all the folk music I'm listening to - like Loreena McKennitt. Medieval would again be folk music. Like traditional acoustic folk music. Swedish is anything from Swedish Pop, to Swedish Folk, to Swedish Rock, to Swedish Punk, to Swedish New Age to Swedish Dance music even.

Banter - Good humored, playful converstaion.

Why are half the things people say on this site used to discriminate against others based on their musical tastes? I'm not going to say I'm not guilty of it, but not to the extent that alot of others are.

Yeah liking certain kinds of music really will leave you vulnerable to mockery here. People have taken a stab at me for liking ELP more than a few times.

Music is a passionate subject, if someone feels your music taste is shit. They'll have a go a bit, they'll try and be diplomatic and polite about it. But fun and wild discussions can get heated.
