Agreed with the former. albeit, the latter range. I mean, you can't call poison metal. Then again, Scorpions, and Ratt are no more or less heavy than Judas Priest which is really sonically basically the same as hair metal even if not specifically glam.

G n R are usually lumped in with "hair metal" but they're closer to "hard rock", so I'd leave them out

Guns N' Roses are a terrible band. Why they've received the level of acclaim, and success they have is completely beyond me.

I liked Appetite for Destruction

but I LOVED Chinese Democracy, mainly cos of Buckethead and Tommy Stinson rather than any other factor
