Ahh, that's a good one. For me it's usually Master of Reality or Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.

Sabotage is underrated though.

Yes, because it was important to me in the mid 90s.
Not denying I used to like it but it means nothing to me now other than nostalgia.

The last part I can agree with you on. I don't think Pearl Jam are the greatest or anything, but I definitely like them. Then again, if you like something, you have to at least think it's good enough to be likeable, right?
I like to think that see things for what they are. If I want some loud dumb cock rock I'll put on a Kiss album, I'll enjoy listening to it but I know it's rubbish in the grand scheme of things.

Out of curiosity Urban, what have you actually listened to by Pearl Jam?
I have heard the first 3 albums far more many times than I care to count due to a friend saying they were his favourite band, even he gave up on them around 10 years ago.

And another random question, what's your favorite Black Sabbath album?
Volume 4

Volume 4

So, you're a Kiss guy eh? Moreso than ACDC? What's your favorite Kiss album? I agree with you on seeing things for what they are and I see your point. Just because you know what you're listening to is not groundbreaking and is somewhat dull, it doesn't mean you can't enjoy it.

Well, you should check out Pearl Jam's 2000 album, Binaural. They create an interesting soundscape and it really is a unique album. Only problem with it is the first three songs which happen to be the worst of the album.

Volume 4 is pretty good. FX and Changes kinda drag it down for me though. I read your review on Smashing Pumpkins MCIS, and I know it was a joke, but do you really think it was that bad? Honestly, I think its one of, if not the best double albums ever made.

Two more random questions for you Urban. What's your favorite REM album and if you were forced to listen to either U2 or Pearl Jam all day, which one would you choose? :D

BastardofYoung 05-10-2011 07:02 PM

Once again I will answer your random questions and see if I am agreed with this time, haha.

Favorite R.E.M. = "Murmur"
U2 or Pearl Jam = I am going to say U2, simply because of my love for the song "Bullet the Blue Sky".

Murmur does kick ass, and is in constant competition with Automatic as my favorite REM album. Life's Rich Pageant is probably no. 3 though.

For me, I'd take Pearl Jam, just because they are overall the more consistent band. U2 has released too much garbage like October, Zooropa, All That You Can't Leave Behind, and How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. Bullet The Blue Sky is great though along with the rest of Joshua Tree.

BastardofYoung 05-10-2011 08:39 PM

for me "Murmer" with "Reckoning" and "Automatic for the People" following.

I love all the KISS singles, even beyond the 70s. I really really like all the solo albums, except for "Peter Criss".

MCIS rawks all kinds of ass, seriously.

Well U2 is no different than other bands that has a sophomore jinx, but you have to admit there are a few good tracks on October - I wouldn't count it as "garbage" maybe inconsistent.

Now someone mention KISS, now that's real "garbage" just because they made albums doesn't mean they made music. Even Gene admits he didn't care about what they did musically, he mention something like "so what about missing notes" while playing live because they put on a show, I guess in his mind all the peripheral stuff like make-up, S&M heavy metal outfits, flaming guitars and spitting blood was more important than the actual music they were playing. All that make-up and stage antics is nothing more than gilding a turd. Take a band no one takes serious like Pomplamoose, they have more music cred than KISS.

^^totally disagree

KISS is catchy and slow

probaly the first sludge grunge band

You might be on to something there as far as a unpopular music opinion, but I don't see it I don't remember Kurt Cobain donning clown make-up.
