Exactly. Hating one, but loving the other doesn't make any sense.

You're dumb
Morrissey-solo | Robert Smith on history of Morrissey feud

but I don't hate the Cure for only that, they're overrated. They have like, four or five good songs
And in terms of voice, Morrissey wins. Robert's singing was precedent for horrible bands like My Chem, he whines like a bitch

Maybe they aren't bad, but I do think they keep to a style too much and I get tired of it. Maybe with some artists the vocal dominates and shapes the style such a lot that the style can't really change much at all over the years. I'd say the same with others too like The Smiths, though I may like slightly more songs by them I can get tired of them keeping to the same style too. Bands that do that just seem to stay within an area their fans are comfortable with instead of branching out more.

1. Hating something for being overrated is stupid and overrated.
2. What songs are you referring to? At the risk of using a cliche argument, have you heard enough of their work to make that judgment? The Cure are a group who have changed stylistically throughout their musical career, while The Smiths basically stayed the same. Albeit they only released about a third as much work as The Cure.
3. You honestly don't think Morrissey is a whiny bitch? And if we're talking about influence, he basically inspired every crappy britpop band.

No, I just happen to hate them in general. They're boring.
Yeah, I have heard enough of their work, I used to be quite fond of them. All of what the Smiths put out were a lot better musically than all of the Cure's stuff. Yeah but he's much better at it, and I meant by voice anyway, Robert sounds like he's on the verge of puberty, Morrissey sounds all silky and soulful

Nope it's very much the opposite, The Cure pretty much changed their style from one album to the next. Robert Smith's philosophy was "if it ain't broke, break it", as a result Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me sounds way different to Disintegration, Faith sounds way different to Pornography and The Cure sounds way different to Bloodflowers, the band changed their sound constantly.
