I attribute Eminem's recent hits to fan loyalty and the messages of the songs and videos - lyrically and musically, they are not good songs.

I think black metal (with some exceptions) kind of sucks. Anything involving the prefix or suffix "grind," as well.

Atmospheric Black Metal is pretty badass. Have you listened to Agalloch?

I suppose if it's the vocals that put you off about black metal, then you're bound to dislike the entire genre.

Vocals put me off of metal. I've got some difficulty finding anything I enjoy.

Haven't listened to them, and I may as well check em out. Thanks for the tip.

Yeah pretty much that's it. I listen to a lot of "horrible" vocals in many different genres and am usually fine with it... but black metal is just a tad too much for me. I'm sure I'll eventually find a gateway into it that will get me used to it, but for now I just can't stand to listen to it for more than a song at a time. :-|

Quite honestly, I don't give two ****s what "real" metalheads (referring mostly to the metalhead snobs who hate anything that they don't consider metal) think. They might think they're so "kvlt" and so "tr00", because they listen to a bunch of underground black/death metal bands that no one's ever heard of/cares to hear about, but in reality, I probably get more pussy than any of them.

Metal is probably my preferred music genre and I certainly don`t hate Nu-Metal, the only real problem with Nu-Metal is the poor quality of the bands that make up the genre and you really have to dig deep to find the good stuff. Also the genre suffers from the fact that the really big bands such as Korn and Deftones etc put out their classic albums early on (their debut albums) from then on it was mostly downhill with neither band quite reaching the heights of their debuts again..... a factor which doesn`t help the genre.
