I guess I should've been more specific. I rarely meet someone who has heard of them, and the few that I have met seem to have the opinion that their albums are overrated...

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble...but Clapton is NOT God.

Bob Dylan is.

Mentioning Cast in the same sentence as gods such as Ride and Lilys is a sin and it makes me sad. Oh god, Cast. *shudders*

Sorry. I like all three. I'm not comparing them.

oh i got a couple alright,

Starting with Jimmy hendrix, ppl say he's a guitar god but i personally don't like his music, i don't like songs with alot of guitar solos bands that Jam too much in their songs and Jimmy does that..

i also think that all those death metal singers that sing like monster are stupid..
i just don't get it, why are the growling and calling that singing?
And the guitarist & drummers of those kinda bands all seem like show offs! with exaggerated solos that are ridiculously fast and the drummers with the double kickdrum Full on, it's just overkill.

OH, i almost forgot..

Bob marley..
Bob i like, but i think wannabe rastafarians idolise him too much, he's like a singer and a prophet to them

his music to me is not that great, i don't get why he was viewed more special than other reggae artists

2) A few underrated bands that come to mind are Cast, Lilys, and Ride.

3) I think Oasis was the best band of the 90s.

4) Justin Beiber is not a bad singer.

5) I've always disliked the Beach Boys, Bruce Springsteen, Muse, Guns n Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and a bunch of other bands that are/were really popular (regardless of whether you want to consider them good or not)

6) The Velvet Underground was one of America's greatest rock n roll bands.

7) Im not into searching for good indie music to listen to anymore. If they're really great, I'll hear about them eventually.

all I can think of for now...
All seven of your list items seem to be, at least partially, popular music opinions.
I also see a lot of disjunction though. See below..

1) I don't like those bands but they're very popular. Thanks for the cred.

2) Never heard of Cast. Lilys are good. Ride is not underrated at all. Everybody loves Ride.

3) I thought Oasis is hugely popular?

4) same as above

5) This one is too unfocused. All of those bands are hated, loved, or ignored by segments of the world's population. So some of those opinions are very popular, some not at all.

6) Everybody loves the VU.

7) Everybody does that. It's a popular thing to do.

I think you're doing this wrong.

lol they do?

but why are they doing it in the first place? are they mocking singing? is singing not "Extreme" enough they gotta resort to growling?

Call me kooky, but i prefer a singer who actually sings rather than growl a song..
