All you are doing is giving adjectives to the songs. You label them angry and violent. What exactly are these songs talking about? These rap songs are not just angry and violent for no reason.

I am not saying that real hip hop is black people bashing white people's unfair treatment but since you do not "get it" it is natural you would think of that in a generic way. I was enlightening you on how Hip Hop was created and the history of black culture in America because when you understand that you will understand why black people are angry in rap songs. Why black people bash white people and the system.

So you are happy the establishment perpetuates black people as hoes, sluts, weak minded, ignorant, pimps, gang bangers, etc? You are happy that you do not have to hear black people "complain" about their struggles?

Really?

Krump dancing is nothing compared to how a black woman is portrayed as a slut and how her body is objectified.

It does not matter that the rappers are OK with it. It still does not change the fact the hip hop mainstream culture is manufactured and purposely exploits African Americans.

You are trying to make it seem like they are being victimized. The point of me saying that are okay with it is that all parties are okay with these images that they are putting forth. They aren't being held hostage or being held at gun point.

Also over the past few years it isn't as bad as it used to be. The whole "video ho" phenomena has been toned down.

You known, Soundgarden used to be my fav grunge band back in the day, but I care less and less each year. They still have songs I love, but a lot of it just leaves me cold. I think it's entirely possible that trying to weld Led Zeppelin onto alternative rock is a doomed enterprise.

This. After the first four songs it gets kind of iffy, but from "Rotten Apple" to "No Excuses" that album is just brilliant.

I can't really stomach that album. Its like Alice and Chains channeled Steve Vai and made an instrumental album. Besides maybe two songs that album was a throwaway.

What didn't you understand? The Led Zeppelin thing? I can't think of much alt rock that's also so influenced by Led Zeppelin and that kind of classic rock, except Pearl Jam, and Pearl Jam has bored me since day one, hence my statement that trying to combine Led Zeppelin with alt rock is perhaps a bad idea.

I'd certainly say its their best album pound for pound. I refrain from calling anything grunge a masterpiece though. Definitely a solid album overall.
