Never understood the love wish you were here gets. Still a good album but vastly inferior to Animals or Dark Side or Meddle or Obscured by clouds...

Maybe I'm biased because I listened to it when it first came out?

This is beyond brilliant.

I was 7 when it came out so was probably still listening to my Sesame Street album or something. But I went through a huge Floyd phase like many people and this one just never stuck like some of the others. Welcome to the machine is one of my least favorite Floyd songs. I would think it was because it was so over done on rock radio but so were tons of other songs that I still love as much as ever. Anyways, that's what makes music interesting, we all get different things out of it.

The keyboard solo at the end of that track is definitely the standout point on the album.

My issue with 70s Pink Floyd isn't that I think they're particularly overrated or underrated.

My issue with then is that of all the bands playing that sort of music from that era I find them one of the least interesting bands musically, and yet they're one of the most revered.

I like those albums mentioned, but I find that I very rarely feel the need to revisit them.

Floyd's music sounded more innovative during the 70s when quaaludes were available.

With all due respect, which other bands were playing that sort of music in 1974-1975?

I'll take Piper at the Gates of Dawn and Saucerful of Secrets over any '70s Floyd, except for maybe Dark Side.

Popular progressive rock in '74/'75 was Rush and Yes just to name a few.

Pink Floyd really wasn't all that popular during the 70s until the '79 release of The Wall.

Yeah this is basically my feelings on them. I don't know the last time I was like "hmm yep I should put on a Pink Floyd album now"
