try as i might i can't understand why people listen to metal. i dunno how unpopular that is but it seems like metal gets a fair amount of love online. i don't knock it or anything... i'm sure there is something there to make all those people listen to it. i just don't hear it. especially when they growl and ****. it really sounds silly to me.

i overuse the word ****. which is unfortunate since this site censors it.

It's not complicated. Loud music is badass. There are other reasons people listen to metal and punk, but in the end, that's the main reason.

i like some loud music but not a lot of metal. to be fair i haven't listened to a great deal of it but most attempts i have made based on recommendations have fallen flat. i have heard some random metal i like but usually its the vocals that kill it for me.

i liked this song alright:

but i think i like the title and the album cover as much as the actual music tbh. and no vocals helps for me.

I get you, for the longest time i thought this way too it's only recently ive been getting into metal.
ive always liked Nu metal but im also into power metal nowadays even though ive spent most of my 20's making fun of metal.

The problem is you haven't heard the melody in it yet.
a melody that appeals to you.
You once you hear that and start to explore that interest and familiarize yourself with the music Metal is as good and profound as any other genre.

Im still gradually getting into it and even though it's not my fav genre im starting to hear the melody in it..

AND THEN SOMETIMES IT'S JUST LIKE "RRRRAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!" AND YOU'RE LIKE "**** YEAH!" AND THEN IT'S LIKE "DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH!" AND YOU'RE LIKE "OH ****! THAT'S ****ING BADASS!" AND EVERYBODY ELSE IS LIKE "It's too loud..." AND THEN YOU PUNCH THEM IN THEIR PUSSY FACES AND DRINK THEIR BLOOD WHILE SCREAMING "SSSSLLLLAAAAYYYYEEEERRRR!!!!!!!!"

And it's just so ****ing awesome.
