AGREE

They are color blind which is even worse than being a racist.

But I personally feel they are color blind as well as racist.

Hip Hop was raped of everything... I will just say that.

I just think it is sad because young people listen to it on the radio and believe that accurately reflects Hip Hop and it does not.

When you made that point, I never denied that is the case for SOME songs but no that is not the case for ALL songs that are banned.

There are mega star's that have songs that were not even a Top 10 single that have been banned.

I'm gonna throw System Of A Down into the mix here.

Quote:
The group's big break arrived when their second album Toxicity debuted at No.1 on the American and Canadian charts, despite the events of September 11. The album has eventually achieved 3x multi-platinum certification in the US[7] and has since sold over 12 million copies worldwide. It was still on top in America during the week of the September 11, 2001 attacks and the political environment caused by the attacks added to the controversy surrounding the album's hit single "Chop Suey!" The song was taken off the radio as it contained politically sensitive lyrics at the time such as "(I don't think you) trust in my self-righteous suicide." Regardless, the video gained constant play on MTV as did the album's second single, "Toxicity". Even with the controversy surrounding "Chop Suey!" (which earned a Grammy nomination), System of a Down still received constant airplay in the United States throughout late 2001 and 2002 with "Toxicity" and "Aerials". In May 2006, VH1 listed Toxicity in the No.14 slot in the 40 Greatest Metal Songs.

Que? Do you still live in the United States? Raped no! But giving into to the flashy bull**** that was handed to the artists yes. If there is one thing the industry as well as the artist themselves are guilty of it's greed.

How can you be color blind and racist ? Rethink that one for me will you...Or lay it one me. What the hell do you mean?

No. You said that it didn't happen and I gave examples where it did, that's all.

The last recorded lynching in the United States (as the US knows) was back in 1981 Michael Donald a 17 year old African American man was publicly hanged by two KKK members in Alabama while he was walking home from a grocery store. This was after the Post Civil Rights Era.

Black people are not suppose to be angry about this?

Rappers are not suppose to make songs about this?

This is problematic.

Trayvon Martin (2012) was shot walking home from a store JUST because he had a "hoody" that is a stereotypical characteristic of gang member or thug. He was 17 and shot just because of that stereotype that is associated with African American young men. The killer was cleared of ALL charges. Here it is 2014 and this crap is still going on.

When is it going to stop?

I am just tired of white people acting like this crap does not go on and ignoring the prejudice/injustice issues that affect other minorities. I just think it is ignorant.

There is nothing wrong with rappers talking about these issues in their songs.

@Plankton

9/11 changed everything for americans including what you can play on the radio at the time.

And Serj looks too middle eastern too so that's another flag raised.

That is not true.

I never said or implied it did not happen at all.

I just said that was not the case for ALL songs that are banned.
