What about no one else? the lyrics in that song are pretty emo. i also think the way Rivers sings sounds pretty emo.

I guess so. Not saying they don't have some emo influence in their early work, just not much I don't think.

Actually, now that I think about it, Diary was released the same year as The Blue Album, so up to that point the majority of emo still had a hardcore edge. I wonder where they may have picked up that influence.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

By my definition all emo bands are rooted in Jawbreaker and that does not include Weezer.

What about Tiger's Jaw??

Seems to be some "emo" in there with a good bit of grunge and punk influence. Whatever it is, I like it, very 90's... Personally, I could do without the vocals but, by the same token, they certainly don't kill the music either...

I was kinda talking about the group that started emo but Tiger's Jaw is indeed awesome. The Sun is one of my favorite songs ever.

I'm just recently getting into them, and so far the only albums I've listened to all the way through are this one and Charmer, this one being my favorite at this point... Feel free to post some of your favorites (by them or similar bands) for Mrs. Dagger... The grungier, the better

I've only heard the S/T and Charmer too. Though I personally think Charmer is better. The S/T only had three or four great tracks and the rest were just meh, but boy did those 3 or 4 tracks deliver! Charmer is one of those blanket albums, it justs wraps you up in it's warmth. If you liked that I strongly suggest Keep You by Pianos Become the Teeth.

As for favorite tracks,

The Sun
Meals on Wheels
Sky vs Tank vs Submarine (or whatever it's called)
Hum
Some other tracks off Charmer

Titles evade me.

Edit: Also check out Milk Teeth and I Was Afraid

Screamo is more intense than a lot of metal and the Body sucks
