Clayton and Mullen are the rhythm section I'd want to form a band around. Solid and steady as ****. The Edge is so much better than people give him credit for. Yes, Bono became insufferable once fame set in, but he's still one of the better front men of the past few decades.

Two of the most phenomenal rock performances I've seen in the last 30+years were U2. Their set during Live Aid in 85 was second only to Queen. And months after 9/11 they blew the ****ing roof off during the 2001 Super Bowl halftime show. All ages, all races, all creeds, were moved that night by U2. A perfect band aid.

Not trying to sway you Frowny. Just wondering why you brush their entire career aside so easily.

I don't like them because their music is terrible, Chula. Bloated and uninteresting to the max.

It's really that simple. Would you believe it if I didn't care about Bono as a person at all? I'd hate his vocal style even if he was a down to earth guy.

Kudos to U2 for fixing 9/11 though.

I just don't like watered down pop man. Here, have some stuff that probably influenced Edge.

I think U2 showed a tiny bit of potential way back around their first couple albums or so. But then time went on and they became this big, dull arena rock/soccermom-core band. I just think they are mostly incredibly boring.

There are two U2's, before and including Achtung Baby and after Achtung Baby. After Achtung Baby, it's hard to argue with you, Frownie.

It has to be a measure of how much U2 suck/are seen to suck when you consider that, even though they are without question the biggest rock band ever to come out of Ireland, most people here don't give a **** about them. Some of us are embarrassed they're Irish. There are a lot of their songs I like (mostly off The Joshua Tree) but I have their Greatest Hits and that really does me. Oh, and All That You Can't Leave Behind is a great album. Other than that, I don't really care. I downloaded Songs of Innocence more out of a case of "why not" than really wanting to; God knows when or even if I'll ever listen to it.
