Just seems like a general rock influence that Zep played a major role in establishing to me. I hear just as much Syd Barrett in Cornell tbh, and I'm not just saying that to annoy the **** out of elphenor even though that's a big part of me bringing it up.

Yeah I agree, but a lot of the directness melded with more relatively adventurous songwriting still have a certain Zep feel (if you replace blues rock with Melvins sludge I guess), and Cornell is very much influenced by Plant, especially when he hits those higher notes. I mean if Soundgarden were influenced by 70s hard rock in general then of course Zepplin are going to be in there to a large degree unless they were actively avoiding Zeppelin influences.

If it gives you any solace I knew they sucked from the get go. It didn’t just age poorly. Their fans have always been completely lost. Not catchy. No decent hooks. Pushes no boundaries. Generic. Just ****ing worthless. They were boring as **** live too. Deserved to be heckled.

It's not a 1-to-1 comparison or a ripoff but I definitely hear the Zep influence in a hard to articulate way.
I've always thought it was more of a 'Buffalo' influence with Chris Cornell and Soundgarden...

Those punk influences and experimental tendencies on Ultramega OK definitely haven't aged well.

Issues is one of the worst albums I've ever had the displeasure of hearing.
