IMO artists deserve to be judged by their peaks, and the Stones could be absurdly brilliant in their heyday, even if for my taste there's too much bluesy balladry even on their finest records.

One of my all-time favorite Stones songs. I was at one of their shows, many years ago, smoking weed, stoned and high as a kite, and they played it live. Unexpected, unassailable and the highlight of the show for me.
