Admittedly, the last was with Blackmore, but given how "real-world" Rainbow's lyrics became after he left, you have to assume 90 percent of this was Dio.

I actually like Dio's more metaphorical take on fantasy lyrics than just straight up singing about dungeons and dragons honestly.

I’ve never really noticed his lyrics because I’m too distracted by how much I dislike his voice.

I have a friend who's obsessed with Dio or at least going through a "major Dio phase." He says something about him sometimes, assuming I remember who this Dio character is and what's his story and what's his precise relationship to Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osborne and whether or not he's still alive and all that, probably cause he has a positive opinion about my ability to learn and retain facts. But after I opened the first YT link I completely tuned out mentally. I'll nod politely and say "right" once in a while but that's that.

I remember years ago finding Dio's 'Magica' album in a bargain bin at some pawn shop. Good album. Underrated.

Haha, touche. I don't really play actively myself, but I definitely binged a lot of DND Youtubers back in the lockdown era.

And don't get me wrong, I enjoy some fantasy lyrics, but I appreciate there being more layers to them than face value sword and sorcery stuff.
