Default Punk Violin

I know this is an old thread but maybe someone has something new to add.

My son is dying to find some interesting experimental hardcore usage of electric violin that doesnt, well... just sound like violin! The Raincoats were the closest to experimental usage of electric effects on violin I have heard so far. For traditional violin usage there are tons of bands out there in the celtic punk genre that have nice violin/fiddle (same thing just different styles of playing) parts. For anyone who's interested you can check out Flogging Molly or Boiled In Lead for nice traditional usage.

So far my kid has hooked up a Wa pedal and a Chorus pedal and has made some interesting sounds. next thing he wants is a distortion pedal and overdrive. If anyone knows of maybe some people to listen to or has internet video/audio of experimental violin usage please link it.
