Its gotten to that point where Beefheart's music doesn't even feel experimental or unaccessible, I just love it. It fills me with energy, I can't stand to sit down while listening to it.

And yes, I'm editing a post I made like a month ago. I corrected a spelling error. Go kill yourself.

Default Captain Beefheart

I love Captain Beefheart, if you love him say why, if you hate him, screw you

I love insanity of it, I love the controlled lunacy of it

He is great, not a genius like Zappa, but still great. Things he has done in his life (of which I read in Zappa's autobiography)...

Yeah, he helped him out, when he (Beefheart) and his Magic Band signed some wrong contracts or smth.

I liked Trout Mask Replica, but I didn't love it. I found it more fascinating than.... "playable", shall we say? I should go check out some other Captain Beefheart albums. I heard his debut is a pretty good piece too, no?

All I own by him is The Mirror Man Sessions and I'm getting the feeling it may not be the best place to start. Any ideas of what to get next?

Just had to say I love 'em. Not a complete CB nut job, but VERY cool and always a great listen. Big Eyed Beans From Venus are for everyone!

any direction but Unconditionally Guaranteed should do just fine.

Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller) is an album i've come to look on with fond eyes lately, and there's always the obligatory Trout Mask Replica to warm your soul. Doc at the Radar Station, Lick My Decals Off Baby, and Safe as Milk are all rather excellent as well.

Start at the beginning - Safe as Milk. Great album. Trout Replica, Lick My Decals Off, Baby, Shiny Beast, Doc at the Radar Station and Ice Cream for Crow are a must. Just don't go anywhere near Unconditionally Guaranteed (as Lucifer Sam said) or Bluejeans and Moonbeams.
