Good Live Bands?

I don't know about everyone else but I'm tired of liking a band when I hear the record and then I see them live and they are god awful. I am looking for some new bands that are amazing live! Anyone have any suggestions? I like all kinds of music so I'm open to anything.

Some of Mine are:

Cobra Starship
Silverchair
Boys Like Girls
Justin Timberlake
30 Seconds To Mars
Jonny Lang
The Script

Voodoo Chile 04-18-2007 10:25 AM

Iron Maiden and Tool were great when I saw them.

AnnaOD 04-19-2007 09:16 PM

I actually saw Tool something like 10 or 12 years ago. You're right , they were really good. I am liking the new record... hmm I don't know if they are touring with it or not... I should check it out.

PopIsDead 04-19-2007 09:31 PM

If you're into loud music, I've heard Mogwai has the loudest concerts ever.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 04-19-2007 09:57 PM

Trophy Scars was pretty awesome live, even more so since they only played old stuff.

The Unfan 04-20-2007 07:32 AM

Gwar
Genghis Tron
Kylesa
Opeth
Tool
Riddle Box
TV On The Radio
KMFDM
Cattle Decapitation (though they're pretty boring on CD)
Neanderthal
The Dreaming
Beastie Boys (though it seems as if they hardly ever tour)
Infecter
!!!
Green Day (I kid you not)
Powerglove
Commander Commander

Mogwai left my ears ringing for hours.. awesome performance. actually post-rock in general tends to be really good live, even the band is average.

Live shows for me have to be either one of two things... Epic and atmospheric, or crazy, noisy and fun. My favourite live performances are Khanate, Neurosis, Red Sparowes (as epic as you can get really) and Daughters, Trencher, Aotea (so much fun).

DontRunMeOver 04-20-2007 09:48 AM

Sound Devastation, I think you'd like a band called "Jazz Thrash Assassin" from somewhere around Birmingham. They have a crooner, a screamer, a jazz keyboardist, a metal guitarist, a funk bassist and a drummer who wears a skull mask. And they all do their thing while staying perfectly in time with each other. Its both bizarre, incredibly random, yet completely coherent and extremely tight.

rockerchik 04-20-2007 02:36 PM

Godsmack
Rob Zombie
Mad Caddies
Blue October
The Eagles

Dead Meadow probably is one of my favorite bands I saw in concert, it was like a giant orgasmic base note. They were opening for Dinosaur Jr. and I thought they out shined them. You just get so mellow and happy listening to Dead Meadow. Pot is suggested as well because it really enhances this band's music, plus as a bonus if you're a girl all the members are pretty hot, except the drummer (but drummers are usually not as hot). Just if you get the opportunity see them in concert, you're ears might be ringing for a couple of days but it's totally worth it.

Hood 04-22-2007 02:49 PM

GWAR
Alice Cooper
Red Hot Chili Peppers

heart 04-26-2007 10:34 PM

Arctic Monkeys are great live :) They bring so much energy and focus, it's the most exciting thing...

tardis 05-03-2007 12:53 AM

Third Eye Blind is absolutely amazing live. They blew me away with some of their sets. The Smashing Pumpkins are playing at Virgin fest and I can't wait to hear their awesomeness once again!

They are actually quite good. Nothing too fancy but the performance is on key.

Really? That's the tour that I heard they absolutely sucked at. But my cousin is a huge music freak and has been to countless amazing concerts, so he's I assume he is just very discerning about what makes a truly excellent concert.

=ladyface= 10-08-2007 01:56 PM

I'll obviously give Muse a mention here because they're immense. Wolfmother are very good live too.

The Feeling are fantastic. I like them on CD but I wasn't expecting much from the live show... I was so shocked. They gave it their all. Their music isn't the most energetic stuff in the world but you could tell that they were really enjoying the performance and the audience got into it too.

The Rolling Stones are another band that I wasn't expecting to be blown away by. I mean... they're so old now. But age means very little. Mick Jagger was bouncing around the stage like a 20 year old. The Rolling Stones were one of the best bands I have ever seen.

not really, all thom and tim do is smoke weed, and they're complete pricks.
they're suprisingly condescending and conceited,
who would've thought it, especially since they're a prog-rock band

sleepy jack 10-08-2007 05:03 PM

O really? Cus he only talked to them for a few minutes, but said they were cool. I wont tell him the truth then. Ignorance is bliss.

sleepy jack 10-08-2007 05:12 PM

I've met them all several times and they've always been really nice guys, as for the smoking weed thing who cares?

I sure dont. Good for them.

jasongs89 10-10-2007 10:45 PM

I like Rasputina live. :)

littleliza 10-11-2007 10:25 PM

Smashing Pumpkins, Justin Timberlake, Pink, Sally Anthony

this_guy 10-13-2007 05:57 AM

Suburban legends and patent pending are apparently good live.

Wayfarer 10-14-2007 11:04 PM

I just saw High On Fire live and they were ****ing incredible.

Thats the complete opposite of what I've heard from everyone I know who have met them. They've all said they're great guys. Thom even asked if my friend wanted anything autographed or a photo or anything. Ive heard nothing but good things.

muse
lcd soundsystem
rage against the machine
ratatat
octopus project
arcade fire

8track 11-28-2007 03:18 PM

Four Men and a Dog are brilliant and blistering live...albums are great but they really let loose live.

O'Bannion 11-28-2007 05:24 PM

Nine Inch Nails
Tool
Queens of the Stone Age
Autolux

Those are the 4 best bands I've seen live. All of them are just powerful. The first two combine power with insane lighting and the second two just use sheer force in their shows.
