What is your favorite genre. Please keep things civil and on-topic, so don't flame someone for their taste.

There is'nt one. I grew up with metal, but i love so many genres now, that it is impossible to pick one. The best genre is your favourite IE different for most people.

I'll edit it to favorite genre.

Rock will rule the roost, as it's all encompassing. Blues should really beat the sh[i]t out of it though. No Blues, no Rock.

Rock. The most diverse by far. I guess alternative has indie, but still.

WOW. This poll fails, punk isn't even there and it's pretty wide.

I mean, come on, you have gospel there and not punk?

It depends how specific you want to get:

Rock->Punk->Hardcore->Emo->Screamo

I prefer to think of myself as clever...

Rock...metal more specifically.

i remember when me & r-t tried to get a soul sub-forum added to mb.

I think Hookers was up for that too.

I'd settle for the 'Soul' sub-forum in 'Rap & Hip Hop', being moved to the 'Jazz & Blues forum'.
Soul has closer links with Jazz & Blues than it does with Rap, Hip Hop and modern R&B.
Pointless though, as it wouldn't get posted in any more often than it already does.

Funk evolved from Soul.

That's how I see it and tend to think of them differently.

Some will argue it's the same.

Folk and emo are the two things I can listen to for hours on end.

If you love soul/funk etc, please check these out, they are brilliant and not a big name-a bonus in my book.

I was hoping someone would pick up on that.

I think rock is the most diverse, and accepting of outside influence.

Alternative seemed like the best option to me.

My favourite genre isn't represented in this poll.

Interestingly enough though it does contain as it's foundation, Blues, Gospel and Jazz.
Add to that a touch of Pop and a dash of Dance, all topped off with the occasional smattering of Funk.

It was okay, tiring, dirty, but satisfying. Touring is crazy shit.

I vote rock...Mainly grunge, punk, indie....That kind of stuff.

It's not without it's share of perks though, at least in my day it wasn't.

I picked Blues .
Not because it has my favourite songs, but because it has less crap in it.

If the general Rock category was not included, Blues would have been my choice as well.

i guess it's pretty obvious that rock will win by a lot.

What kind of favorite genre poll doesn't include Celtic ska-influenced cyber-punk crossover thrashcore? Honestly now.


But in all seriousness, ska/folk/hardcore/jazz/everything gets my vote.

Funk, because its dope.

There isn't a best genre. However, that genre definitely isn't Funk.
