I have very fond memories of getting this album on virtually the day of release and hearing it for the first time.

^ One of many reasons why it wasn't a waste of money.

Yeah, it's been on the cards for a while now. Apparently Cave wants it to sound a lot more considered and Bad Seeds-y this time round. Should be interesting to say the least.

Carrying on with the theme of The Cave, I've been playing his new album with Warren Ellis, White Lunar.

Really great stuff, a lot of instrumental tracks which usually manage to paint vivid mental images despite the lack of vocals, much like the soundtracks he has done previously such as for The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. There are some momentary vocals and raspy lyrics, but it's mainly a really chilled out album, great for the evenings and winding down.

Can't wait for the new film The Road. I enjoyed the book and it made me additionally excited when I found out Nick Cave was composing the soundtrack.

Also, after listening to White Lunar I realized Warren Ellis has released a string of albums as part of The Dirty Three. I hadn't previously heard of these, despite being a long time fan of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, so I've been listening to a few of their recommended albums recently too! A lot of violin based tracks, again, really relaxing and some amazing composition of music.

All in all, a lot of Bad Seeds related listening!

And speaking of soundtracks...

^ I absolutely love this album. Features some brilliant contributions from David Bowie, Gil Evans, the Style Council, Ray Davies, Slim Gaillard, Sade Adu and so on. Definitely among my favourite soundtrack albums.

i think being flavour of the month back in 2002/3 pretty much killed them

^ I remember that lot! Or at least I vaguely remember seeing some video of theirs on MTV2 many many moons ago.

If you're having trouble with Absolute Beginners, I'll up it tomorrow myself if you want (I'm out tonight y'see). Oh, and the movie's a total shocker, so don't bother hunting that one down.

Cave In were a progressive metalcore band turned prog band turned melodic alt.rock with a twist, or something along those lines, They got signed to RCA for this record (the MTV2 one) and swiftly dropped. I dig them

I actually got Antenna not long after they released it. I saw the video for Inspire on Kerrang or mtv2 or something and though it was great. Antenna was a good album but i never really got hooked on them, or tempted to check out their older stuff.
