I am absoluteely addicted to Ursa Major by Third Eye Blind right now... I don't know if this is a good or bad thing, all I know is me likes it quite a bit!

Various Artists - Plague Songs

^ A 10 track compilation released by 4AD a few years back, featuring songs from 10 different artists on their roster about the biblical plagues. Despite a weaker moment or two, it's as awesome as it sounds, particularly the Imogen Heap, Rufus Wainwright and Scott Walker ones, not to mention a great collaboration between Brian Eno and Robert Wyatt. Muchos kudos to Abdullah for getting me the link to this one.

So I found some old cassettes today and most of it has already been replaced on either CD or MP3 but I found this:

I forgot all about this album. Quality groovy blues with lots of horns.

Their first album for a long while and it's so refreshing to hear a damn solid Rock album full of great riffs and solos and yet still stand out from the pack. A welcome return to form.

Every bit as awesome as you'd hope for. Unlike that bloke from Gnarls Barkley (i forget his name)'s Jay-Z/White Album mashup, a portion of the tracks on here do not actually use Beatles samples, rather latter-day RZA-like horn motifs parping Beatles choons...
However this doesn't impede on the overall quality of the produckies. The vocals are lifted from not only Wu tracks but the solo careers, it's ridiculously long, the Beatles/ODB skits are classic (heareth) and it's freeeeeee. Or at least it was until the bandcamp.com profile got taken down. Haw haw.

Pretty great even if it isn't as consistent as Summerteeth or Yankee Hotel Foxtrot in terms of quality.
