Oh man does this album ever fit the mood I'm in right now...
does the tone of the album reflect the tone of the cover?

Augie March - Strange Bird
(Too much of a noob to post a cover apparently)

I used to prefer their first album to this one, but now... tch.
It'd been a while since I really sat down with it, but I was waiting around/killing time the other day when I put it on and it just kinda sucked me in.

Examples of why:

(This one has a long intro, but it's worth it)

This band changed so much. If you love really sleepy atmospheric rock (even hints of their former death metal, but not so it's over-bearing) then this is a nice album to just relax to.

Started listening to this due to him headlining Glastonbury, always been a huge motown and soul fan but for some reason this is a man who I have not listened to. Well thats changed now, absolute genius.

Mistabishi - Drop

Amazing DnB album from '09. I posted about this one in my journal based on a single song, but I've been listening to the whole thing daily since then. Drop is completely solid in its entirety, with every song being unique and standing on it's own.

really fell in love with this album again after not listening to it for quite a while. it has inspired another portishead binge, which finally gave me some time to get more into 3. not as good as this album or dummy, but it is actually a really strong album.

First Beefheart I've listened to in months, and I think it's always the best way to go about the man's music. Great album either way, and definitely among the guy's best.

And by the way, Owed T'Alex = coolest anything ever
