Swans - The Seer

I've always liked this album from my initial listen on, but I only saw it as a really good Swans album. Now after playing To Be Kind to death I popped this on the headphones again and damn, I'm disappointed in myself for not giving it enough credit. Now I see this for what it truly is: a fantastic Swans record. To Be Kind is still better IMO but we'll see how long I last when repeat listens make their appearance.

Diana Ross & the Supremes - Let the Sunshine In (1969)

Starting the day digging one of my all-time favorite vocal groups singing my all-time favorite cover of "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In (The Flesh Failures)."

Islander - Violence & Destruction
Wovenwar - S/T
Darkest Hour - S/T
Starset - Transmissions
Godsmack - 1000HP

All of them are solid albums. Islander is like a Deftones/Rage Against The Machine to some point/Glassjaw maybe. Good sound.

Wovenwar is comprised of the guys from As I Lay Dying with the vocalist of Oh, Sleeper at the helm. Great modern Metal album through and through. I think a lot of you here would like it.

Darkest Hour new S/T is the first from them I've actually liked from song 1 to the last on it. They've been a hit and miss band for me for a long time. Check out the new record.

The new Godsmack is pretty much what anyone that listens to the band can expect. But there's kind of this freshness to the music. The guys seem revitalized.

Starset are a new band fronted by Downplay's singer. It's sort of atmospheric, or cinematic type rock. It's huge stuff and sounds amazing loud.

Alissa's singing is just beautiful and her screams are amazingly powerful and terrifying at the same time on songs such as "You're Coming With Me" and "Predator & Prayer." The instrumentation is more melodic and interesting than the typical generic stuff I'd expect from what I assume to be metalcore. The lyrics are great all around. It's a shame she left and she won't be using her beautiful singing as much with Arch Enemy. This album is my favorite output from The Agonist, looking forward to the next one with the new vocalist who seems to have that same factor Alissa has that I like. I'll have to wait and see.

Katatonia - Brave Murder Day (1996)
A band I've been aware of for a number of years but haven't been compelled to check their albums until recently. This is a very enjoyable album of death/doom metal and also features Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth on harsh vocals.

Always love this band, and this album just has that trademark creepy cinematic quality going for it. Great for driving home at sunset.

ps. click the album to navigate to the full album on YouTube.

I need to get this. Probably the only album from them that I haven't listened to yet.
