maybe a little bit novel but it is exactly what it claims: acoustic covers of Electric Wizard songs. Captures the spirit of the originals quite well

EDIT: Man what the **** was wrong with me? This is great.

Heh well yeah i can see that. Krautrock is a pretty useless genre label, if only because it just includes a bunch of German bands that really dont sound anything alike. Cluster is more on the electronic or ambient side of things than Can or Amon Duul II. At any rate, I am glad you like Zuckerzeit now :D

Of course no band can take the place of OM as kings of droning, meditative, hypnotic stonerdoom mantra metal, but here's the debut album Oracles from ZAUM. OM with more SLEEP, and more sitar. Heavy trip.

I've been on board with this record since it dropped, and it's been timeless since. I binged for a year listening to it, put it down, and now I put it back on loop and what do you know, it's still ****ing fantastic. On par with "Sound of Silver", neither better or worse.

WITCH CHARMER - THE GREAT DEPRESSION (2014)

Recent years has seen a wealth of female-fronted doom and stoner bands. It's been a couple of years since I first saw Witch Charmer and have eagerly awaited a first full-length record. Today they made available a stream of the record, soon to be released on Argonauta records.

I'm not disappointed at all. Solid, riffy, traditional doom/occult-rock. Sounds great and suggests plenty of potential.

MAYBESHEWILL - FAIR YOUTH (2014)

On first listen I'd say it sounds that Maybeshewill are comfortably fitting into a more melodious, electro-post-rock with this, their fourth record, which feels like a continuation of their previous attempt, rather than the riffy post-metal of the debut and, to a lesser extent, the follow-up.

It maybe didn't completely grip me but I did enjoy it and expect further listens to confirm that.

CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX - WHITE LIGHT GENERATOR (2014)

I was ever so concerned about this record, what with their new singer. I had feared it would be a big step down. I needn't have worried. It's still melodic, spacey, prog-rock, and it's still beautiful.

Sam Smith - In the Lonely Hour (2014)

There's just something I really like about this guy. He has a fantastic voice, and a certain charm about his lyrics. Probably prefer his "sound" on the Nirvana EP over this, but aside from a few tracks, this is a really good release.

Benjamin Booker—s/t (2014)
Punky, garagey, indie blues rock. Not exactly an envelope pusher, but the best tracks on this album are really, really good stuff. This is perfect driving-with-the-windows-down music. Raw and full of life.
