The most diverse album I have heard, always a fun listen-through.

I'm really digging the new album by The Thermals.

(2006)

Two men, both over 40, mash everything that's good about music (plus some drum n' bass) into one album with impeccable style and pop sensibility in a trans-Atlantic collaboration that only a few hundred people in the known universe will be acknowledging. Which is a shame.

This is too cool for school, swing-y, blues-y, lounge-y, jazz-y stuff by lots of familiar and not-so-familiar names; this was big in the 60's, apparently. Which is weird because none of it sounds very 60's at all, or maybe it does, I'm genuinely confused. It's a big mix of accessible jazz, broadly. Anyway, it's very conservative and pleasing, good if you are hosting a dinner party for people over 50.

If anyone can tell me what the hell this stuff has to do with mods that would be great, because wikipedia fails. UNLIKE this compilation, get it from your local record dealer NOW, daddy-o.

edit: and there are a few tunes that sound like the backing music to some horribly dated 60's film, like some samba with vibraphone or that generic 60's flute you'd know if you heard it. Brilliant!

Two great albums there. Underworld are so underated. I have the discogs of both bands if you want anymore!

Amazing Hitchc0ck movie with an amazing Bernard Herrmann soundtrack. The score is delightfully hypnotic and dissonant.

^ Top album that. The title track on that is sheer bliss. I should probably give that Underworld album a go sometime too.

I am very impressed with your recommendation and I am now watching out for more from you. :)
