And the mullet, too. It's only natural.

Cursive "The Ugly Organ"

dreadnaught sent me this for our weekly swap two weeks ago, and on third listen it's really sinking in. The last track is absolutely epic.

Ahhhh... the mullet, the outdated fashion faux par for all eternity...

Since I bought the album, it's been raining consecutively for a week here. Perfect timing. He works with a some great musicians, including his son. I really enjoy the percussion in this one.

Definitely my favorite new school Tom Waits album. Guys been putting out albums for over 35 years and he's still pushing the boundaries of reality.

My favourite album of theirs by quite a margin, although I ain't heard the last one. I had difficulty listening to the album (esp. 'Someone's In the Wolf') for years after a dodgy SOLO mushroom experience whilst listening to it, I would get a stomach ache whenever I heard it.

'Little Sister' is one of their best singles EVUH

Cursive takes a while to completely soak in, but yeah once you get into them it's hard to stop listening.

Some of my favorite collections of jazz.

The self titled is my favourite, that one probably comes in last for me actually but its still a fine record. Arguably the poppiest QOTSA have ever been but it works. I'd definitely check Eva Vulgaris out. I think in places its a little more complex in its song structure and probably the better for it.

i dunno it always seemed like the black sheep of their canon to me, i've been too lazy to check out the debut thus far aswell, i just always assumed it would sound a bit like Kyuss. I saw some footage of them storming tracks off Era Vulgaris and that made me return to 'em

It actually mitigates a ground which isn't explored by either Kyuss or the rest of QOTSA's music. I could probably be convinced otherwise but I think it's a piece of garbage, especially compared to records Homme made before and after (Kyuss self-titled & R are pretty gnarly).

I love LTP, it's such a stark & bare record compositionally. There's only a marginal influence of others' songwriting, Homme wrote 90-95% of the album by himself (and by the sound of it recorded & produced by himself as well). Everybody Knows That You're Insane, Burn the Witch, I Never Came, "You Got a Killer Scene There, Man" are all fantastic. If it weren't for R & Kyuss self-titled it would probably be my favorite record Homme has made.
