Great stuff though, glad you enjoy it.

I can see making the shoegaze connection though. the guitar work is damn fantastic and textural as all-get-out. It definitely makes you forget that it's only drums and guitar.

You know those mornings when you can't really figure out why you woke up about six hours before you thought you would, you can't get back to sleep so the only real option is to sip coffee and sit around 'til a mate or two happens to be awake as well? These albums are pretty good soundtracks for that, for some reason or other. Also, I'm much more in the mood for something chilled than opening my mind to something new, so a couple of the old favourites can't go too far amiss.

I don't think I've ever woken up before I planned, but I have to say that I am digging these albums, too. I was never a fan of Nick Cave but he is slowly growing on me... definitely suit a chilled mood.

The weird thing is I was out 'til about 3am as well. If I can stay awake 'til a reasonable time, I guess that's my sleeping pattern fixed again :D

Nick Cave is one of the absolute best without a doubt though. He's probably another one of my most listened-to artists over the last 7 or 8 years, or however long I've been listening to what I'd call decent music (long before I started my LastFM account then). It's a real shame that discography thread that was started about him went under - it's pretty tempting to start a new one at this rate...

I've been somewhat obsessed with Nick Cave in the last half a year and he's my most listened to artist on last.fm for that period.

I love Boatman's Call and it's actually my nighttime album (especially when I'm bussing home after 10 pm). Even though it's all ballads, it somehow never gets boring. Brompton Oratory is fantastic.

No More Shall We Part isn't half bad either. :p:

An indie musician with a really 60's sound people should check out. Loads of Kinks and Beach Boys influence.

Brompton Oratory's definitely one of my absolute favourite songs of his. I just love how simplistic the arrangement is yet how it hits home in a way that only a precious few others do. Far From Me is probably the best bit of angst I've ever heard too.

I've decided to take a break from the headphones (partly due to my computer problems and inability to update my iPod) and play some music on the office's built-in speaker system. Subjecting everyone to the tunes of sidewinder.

Not much to say really, absolutely blown away by this record. Really believed that they had to take a step back with this one from Alligator and Boxer so tried not to get my hopes up. Astonished at how good this is, possibly better than their last two. Absolutely brilliant, AOTY-quality record here.
