Having a very interesting time listening to Delerium Cordia by Fantomas... I love the sensations the sounds of this entire one track, 75 minute album give me.... it sounds like a giant sound collage with musical parts, and I love it.

Ween - Pure Guava

Experimental, Psychedelia, Lo-fi with lyrics that talk about their drug experiences as well as every day things in life. Really great album.

:thumb: That was the first album that I heard from them around 93-94, great stuff. I love how they can write really beautiful songs like Sarah, and then psychedelic mind-fucks like Mourning Glory. :bonkhead:

That's the Fantomas album I've listened to the least. Just once, actually. I was driving from Houston to Seattle, I don't remember what state I was in. The single track is off-putting to me. I should give it another try one of these days, too.

All I've been listening to lately is Swans and Wire, but I've found time to check out the Dog on Wheels EP from Belle and Sebastian. I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised at how much I like it. Completely unexpected.

Good album that, if a bit patchy.

Too many bands in the world and not enough ears. I need to book a week off work to listen to some new shit.

You should check out their Mollusk album and don't be put off by the fact they're comedy rock because it's good stuff. I wasn't as impressed by Chocolate and Cheese but it's not bad. I still haven't heard Pure Guava.

Camel - Mirage (1974)

I've really been expanding my prog rock collection in the last few weeks, but this is an album that really captivated me. After listening to this album I see who influenced Opeth's progressive elements.

Hey, speaking of you and good, loud music, the other day I got a hold of Sodom's "Agent Orange" based on one of your posts from a couple years ago. Great album!

Love that album. Sodom is my fav of the German lot and M-16 is actually a pretty decent piece of modern thrash.

I think I've listened to more progressive rock in the last two weeks than I have in my entire life, so I don't have that desire to defend a genre I barley know. What I liked about the album is it really showed where Opeth got their progressive influence. Opeth are one of my favourite bands so when I can make a connection like that it makes me appreciate what I'm listening to.

I just listened to Opeth on a whim after reading this post. I usually don't check stuff out that has metal any where near it, but I listened to a song called "Porcelain Heart" and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. What would be a good place to start checking their stuff out?

Common Enemies Ep by The Armed is super good. Metal Hardcore with a Dillinger Influence

You should give it another go.... it's alot darker than previous Fantomas releases, and to me it sounds like it's spelling out a story with sound... like someone is dying on an operating table... well, that's the imagery I get from it all... I may be very wrong, as it really has no lyrics...

I've only listened to volume 1 so far. But oh my god it's amazing.

I've been on kind of a thrash kick myself lately, here's what I've been enjoying:

Death Angel—The Ultra-Violence (probably the most similar to Slayer on this list)
Kreator—Pleasure To Kill
Sodom—Agent Orange
Testament—The Gathering (featuring Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo)
Sacred Reich—The American Way
