This is an absolutely slow, but a delicate and graceful masterpiece by Grouper.
It's worth a listen.

Hail Mary Mallon - Bestiary

Great album, digging it quite a bit (II). Production is top notch as is Aesop Rock and Rob Sonic's delivery and lyricism. I think this ranks as one of my favourite Aesop Rock albums (probably top 3 or so). **** the skits though, it'd be a lot better without them. Gotta say though Goof, I like RTJ 2 better still.

Goofle talks about this a lot and I gave it a try today. Great album, two thumbs up

Bonnie 'Prince' Billy - I See a Darkness (1999)
I'm kicking myself for not listening to this sooner, despite being aware of him for a long time. It's certainly a very sad and dark album. But it's also incredibly intimate and beautiful to listen to.

I had to come back to this one, wasn't into it at first. S'more of the same- indie rock with guitars that jangle as much as they crunch. And the basslines just rumble along with the drums and the vocalist complains about how insecure and unhappy he is with his life and his friends in nearly monotone talk-singing. It's mood music for sure, something that makes me feel like in a bar after a breakup lookin for a one night stand or just good company amongst my better friends.

The Rural Alberta Advantage - Mended With Gold

They kind of remind me of an old 90s band. Almost like Wallflowers like. It's more of a feel rather than sound. I like em.

Paradise Lost - Symbol of Life

I just added this to my "50 albums" journal. I've been digging the hell out of this album lately. It seems to be one of those albums where I'll listen to it constantly for a week or two, let it escape my mind, then I find myself going right back to it again. Solid album, for sure.

Akron/Family - Love Is simple

Everything about this album is so beautiful to me. My favorite tracks from Akron/family have been off their s/t but the more experimental ones I'm hearing here are just so lovely. Takes me to a place I can't seem to find in any other band.
