Enjoying some Pearl Jam, courtesy of their bootleg series from about eight years ago, namely the amazing show they put on in Seattle in 2000... damn great three disc set... one of my favorite live recordings ever!

Dan Melchior und Das Menace - Obscured by Fuzz
Brilliant garage rock that's a kind of cross between Billy Childish & Half Man Half Biscuit with a bit of psychadelia mixed in for good measure. Most people here would hate it, I don't care. He did an album with Billy Childish too, I HAVE to hear that.

Rondos - Destroy The Entertainment
They're like a Dutch communist version of Crass. This is a 49 song double album retrospective..... with one riff.

Diamond Head - Lightning To The Nations
Been on a bit of a NWOBHM kick lately. This is the original self released debut album rather than the slick glossy major label remake. This band should have been huge.

Gillan - Future Shock
Crap cover, great tunes.

I love the Internet and it's ability to give me things before they are scheduled to come out in stores. Anyways I will be buying a physical copy of this regardless, but I'm incredibly impatient. OK enough excuses for my piracy. This is Hypocrisy's newest album and is by far one of their heaviest. It continues to trend started with their 2005 release Virus in which the songs are no longer about the paranormal and extraterrestrial, but rather more traditional death metal subjects (torture, violence, addiction, etc.) I'm still undecided if I prefer this one over Virus however I can say that A Taste of Extreme Divinity is another great addition to my ever expanding list of excellent albums for 2009.

I noticed that you have got Gillan's Magic too and I am dying to get hold of that. Bluesy Blue Sea is an ace track. Got a couple of links for the above and Magic perchance?

I don't have the original diamond head version.

i am quite a big fan of yoko ono up to a point, and below are the best albums in descending order of preference, which i have been reviving on the aye-splod today. And yes those are lennon's recently-bloodied specs, or so we are told. That one is a new wave album. The one with the Damo Suzuki-like photo is lengthy and underrated, her arrangements are much more conventional and it feels a bit artificial, like she was given a bunch of seasoned session musicians and told to make something listenable. Fly and Plastic Ono Band (the one with the tree) are ridiculously ahead of their time and still stand up today as crazy avant garde krautrock jams, heavy sh*t, they receive the music crit's seal, whereas the other two are probably considered a bit uncool

Although I do enjoy a live CD I have of The Plastic Ono Band playing in Toronto in 1969. They do a nice cover of Blue Suede Shoes.

The XX - The XX
My album of the moment, and maybe my contender for album of the year. It's not as gloomy as it initially appears. Every song is an indie-pop gem, full of heart-felt hooks and melodies, great guitar lines, and great electronic beats. And the boy-girl vocals are used to great effect.

This weekend, and tonight in particular, I'm feeling a Radiohead vibe... just listed to The Bends and I'm now enjoying OK Computer... what's next on my listener's list... you guessed it right! Kid A!
