I just felt that it was unimaginative, generic and easily forgettable. And the vocals were terrible. So terrible that i couldn't see beyond them at times.

As i said, i didnt finish the album so i'm in no position to pass judgement really. If i tried again it might grow on me. So its just a first impression but it isn't a good one at all.

1. don't get turned off by fans, dave matthews (for example) has been and will always be brilliant despite the hoards of asshole fans that he will be forever identified with.

2. hipsters, actually, do tend to have an impeccable music taste. some hipster rock I do not care for but most of it is damn good

3. this album has been and will always be my favorite album. it is brilliantly produced, perfectly cohesive, poetic, lush, beautiful, unique, moving and powerful. in a word- perfect.

don't judge things before you really take a listen. glad you really are able to enjoy this one :]

unimaginative? in regards to music or lyrics?

generic? how? please point out some music that sounds anything like NMH because I would love to hear it, seriously.

and the vocals I could understand someone not liking but don't call them terrible. I think they are wonderfully powerful and unique, ridden with raw emotion, desperation and sadness, but that's just me.

don't think I am attacking you but I would like you to elaborate on some of your points a bit more.

I hated this album as well. there's nothing more annoying that somebody's grating voice singing

I LOVE YOU JESUS CUH-RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIST!

Yeah, I didn't like it too much either. It was interesting enough, though, to warrant another listen at some point when I'm ready. Maybe it will all click then.

you are missing the point. it is not about singing skill in a conventional sense. It is about how much emotion his voice carries. It carries tons tons tons tons more than Rihanna's Umbrella, Lady Ga Ga's Poker Face and Beyonce's need for a god damn ring, all of whom would never be criticized for their voices (of course being able to be criticized for other very considerable flaws).

His voice brings a very important sense of sincerity to the music, possibly the most important part of the music itself. If you don't like the voice, than it is impossible to like the music. I am just asking that you listen to it in a different way.

bro, he can not like Mangum's voice. hell, I liked ITAOTS but even I think there's a couple of points on the album where he was a bit annoying.

Never liked In The Aeroplane Over The Sea either, I'm in full agreement with mojopinuk.

Mushroomhead - XIII <---- it's a link.
A very haunting, heavy industrial-rock album. Some of Mushroomhead's best work.
