Well.... I generally just label "pop" as anything that's extremely popular. To me and my friends, we use "pop" to be short for "popular", usually not taking specific genres into thought as much. Hence, we might even call The Killers "pop music" in that sense.

I think maybe we mixed up our "labels/terminology" on music.

Do you classify "pop" as Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Chris Brown, etc.?

As for The Killers, me and my buds do indeed label them pop. Though really, labels have never mattered to me. When people ask me what I like, I usually just say, "Umm..... stuff." I just tell 'em the bands/groups and let them classify it as they will....

I personally don't like the Killers because the lead singer...well, can't sing. I mean some bands don't sing that good but they can pull it off. But the Killers can't.
