Based on this record? Perhaps. It's an excellent pop record with more depth than most, but the Avant-Garde tag is because of records like Feels and Sung Tongs, which are much murkier and experimental, not to mention less one-dimensional.

It is a fine pop album. I haven't heard any thing else by them yet.

Yeah but that one aint about albums now is it? An album and an opinion (mostly the opinions are about genres or bands) are different enough to merit there own threads I'd say.

I feel the same way about My Bloody Valentine. I've never actually made it through the entire album, it just sounds wrong to me. I heard a song on the radio once that had a nice melody so I thought I'd give it a shot, but the rest was just hurting my ears. I may try again one day but why listen to music I don't enjoy? I believe in giving albums multiple tries before passing judgment but sometimes if it's painful it's not worth it.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Both threads are still equally ugly. I'll just wait for this one to die, like the "ugliest Beatles tune" did.
I thought that threads that are filled with:

A: I hate that album/band
B: Oh really?! You're wrong!
A: No I'm not!
B: Well you're a towel!!
A: NO! You're a towel!!

quality discussions, must be minimized at any cost.

There's a positive to these threads...someone could talk you out of hate and into giving something another try.

Plus as long as everyone remains civil and accepts other people's opinions, it's just discussion which is what we're here for, right?

Or it's a thread where 2 people, one who dislikes an album, the other who likes it. The one who dislikes it says why they dislike it and the other says what they like about it. Maybe giving an insight into what the albums about? Making sure they get it.

You towel.

Has it really gotten that bad yet? The Loveless discussion was pretty civil and discussion-esque....
