In that order. Then after that you will have a good idea if you will like them enough to further explore them.
I fail. Why do I pick difficult albums to start with? I'll be sure to give Red a listen as soon as possible. After I sober up/sleep, I'll give it a listen. So later tonight.

uhhh, have you tried Porcupine Tree?

Porcupine Tree certainly don't suck.

Football does however.

Both acts are rather boring, not that there's anything particularly repulsive about either one.

I don't think he would like PT if he hates Floyd.

This is one of my favorite songs ever.

TheCunningStunt, sometimes I don't understand your forcing yourself to like things. I admire your dedication and open mind, but sometimes you just don't like it or aren't ready. Nothing wrong with moving on to other things and coming back later.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

I think it's a genre that has always alluded me and I keep trying to come back to it and see something in it I previously missed, but like you say - maybe it's just one of them things..

I don't see how DSOTM is "the beggining of the end", before this they made awful crap like Ummagumma and just ok albums like AHM and More, after it they made WYWH, Animals and The Wall, seriously WTF. How is that the beginning of the end? Just because they embraced a polished production style?

DSOTM is still their best album IMO, it might lack the organic element of Piper and Meddle or the very underrated Obscured by Clouds, all of those albums have some filler or less than steller parts though, DSOTM doesn't, musically it's their tightest effort.

I still like Money, it's overplayed, but I don't know how you could find it "boring as hell", it's only 6 minutes, has a great bassline, an interesting rhythm and some awesome guitar and sax solos. If you can endure big epics like Echoes, SOYCD and Dogs I don't know how that would bore you.

It's the tightest and most to the point album Floyd ever did (and still my favorite album probably), I don't know how you could find it boring unless you were bored by Floyd in general.
I am a floyd fan, I just got a tattoo with one of their logos FFS but that doesn't mean I have to like everything that they do. DSOTM is not a bad album and I didn't say that. I just find it boring just the same as you don't rate Animals. Both respective albums are our personal favourites but the difference is that it doesn't bother me in the slightest that you are not a huge Animals fan, it's all about opinions and I respect yours and have not started a debate about your dislike of the album.

The simple fact is that I have known that album (DSOTM) for 20 years now and it doesn't stimulate me anymore. I rarely play it. Doesn't mean that I think it's awful. I just rarely listen to it and prefer other albums.
