Opeth's coming out with somethin?! Awesome...

i suggest that you just listen to a crazy variety of stuff. if you keep listening to the same mainstream artists and the same mainstream genres. Try to find something that is new to you and maybe even just in the local music scene.

everything had been done as of 1990, sans in electronic music. the reason that has progressed is due to new technology.

this is not an ignorant statement, either. i am completely serious. bands are just rehashing their influences and pre-existing styles and sounds.

Thats how it is in mainstream.......most people want to hear the same thing....they are afraid of change.

you're absolutely right. music will never change and we all are doomed to a life of musical desolation. it is unfortunate and many people will die as a result. it's every man for himself now. godspeed.

Not to be mean but come dude, wake up. There has always been great music and will continue to be great music. The only difference is maybe today you have to snoop around a little bit more to find it.

Some people expect great bands to knock at their door and hand them a great CD instead of doing abit of hunting and 'actual' listening.
For every one great band you have to go thru about 20 sh|t ones. But it's worth it. It's never too late to start.

true that. imagine how the rockers felt in the 80s when everything on the surface was disco, disco, disco. Everyone's felt this way so it's not like we won't pull through. We'll go through rough patches. This just happens to be one of them.

The short answer?

No.

Not even close.
