People have being saying music is dead for years.
I watched an interview with the Doors where they talked about how 'Rock was dead'. You'll never appreciate your own generation if you look like that.

this is not an ignorant statement, either. i am completely serious. bands are just rehashing their influences and pre-existing styles and sounds.

It's not only an ignorant statement, it's an arrogant, pretentious and elitist one as well.

Again, you clearly do not listen to an awful lot of non-EDM alternative music if you are able to say that. There are hundreds of bands with their own quite distinctive sounds, many of which mostly use electronic elements and create their overall aesthetic by means of the current advances in technology in the recording industry.

The weirdest thing I find about that post is he agreed with someone saying must pre-1990s sucks. So...by his logic music has to be unoriginal or electronic to be good?

This is like a George W. Bush quote or something.

Huh? That's WAY too philosophical for the Bush-meister.

whoops, I never said music had to be new or groundbreaking to be "good".

you lose.

and rainard, I listen to quite a deal of non-EDM, though increasingly less so as it all becomes the same. to be quite honest, i've become quite jaded. name a band, and, if i've heard them, i can probably name at least 2 other bands that sound like them.

I disagree. Bush tries to be philosophical all the time, he always fails and makes himself look like an idiot, but dammit he tries.

But there was nothing philosophical about that post, its just stating the painfully obvious in a way that insults peoples intelligence, which Bush also does all the time.

Which isn't true for EDM?
