I'd like to get into pop a little more. Not bubblegum pop, but more...intellectual pop, if that makes sense. Does anyone have some suggestions?

Rod Stewart, if you're looking for classic pop. If you want some contemporary stuff, I suggest The Wallflowers, although they're more along the lines of pop-rock. Seeing as I don't listen to much pop, I can't help you out too much though.

Yeah, I'm familiar with Rod Stewart's older stuff. I'm mostly interested in newer bands.

Hello Saferide and Jens Lekman both make wonderfully lovely indie-pop

I would add Bell and Sebastian and Stars as well

I got into electronic stuff like Girl Talk and Dan Deacon. Also I started listening to Bright Eyes and Elliot Smith (1-5 threads mentions at least one of them) and I really (surprisingly) dig them both.
