Ughh, I'm not a fan of that album at all. It's the same length, but have you considered Frank Zappa's album "Joe's Garage"? It's somewhat challenging (nowhere near as challenging as Zappa in the mad years) and has a nice plot. If that doesn't appeal to you so much, then I'd suggest any Moody Blues albums or Alice Cooper's works (although he is not my favourite, he does put out some interesting concept works). If all that fails, I'd say that Genesis's "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway," it's a classic prog concept album.

Its as you said, mostly fun upbeat rhythmic music that makes you wanna move, not to be taken too serious :).

Speaking of LB I'm searching for stuff like their first album, that means mostly angry songs with awesome breakdowns like Pollution, Stuck, Counterfeit etc. Anybody knows bands/songs similar to that?

Also, if you like rap metal listen to Rage Aagainst the Machine because they are somewhat unique, their lyrics aren't 100% bullsh*t and their fans aren't rapists (at least I have yet to hear a story about RATM-loving rapists gangbanging a crowdsurfer)

Mirrored is their best by far, but their discography is pretty small anyway.

Right I'm looking for something with the same kind of musical themes as Nine Inch Nails and Tool, but at the same time is origional enough to not sound regognisable with any other band, or at least not the mainstream ones. I like the kind of music that has some kind of undermining dark message, with if possible a mixture between guitar/instrumental music and electronic sounds, but not necessary industrial music.

You'd probably like the band OSI, they have a kind of alternative/ progressive metal with electronic overtones thing going on. Their latest album, Fire Make Thunder (2012) is a pretty good place to start.



If you like that you'll also definitely want to check out Porcupine Tree's latter material. Their early stuff is far more ambient progressive rock, but after hanging out the metal kids Steven Wilson started making slightly heavier and more engaging music. Their 2002 album, In Absentia is probably the best place to start.

It's kind of a toss up between Rapid Eye Movement (2007) (my favourite), Second Life Syndrome (2005), and Out of Myself. Honestly they're all really good so I'd say just start with Out of Myself (2003) and work your way forwards.
