In a word ...YES

I don't go around listening to weird and obscure stuff just so I can win arguments on a forum , I do it because I enjoy music and want to hear as much different stuff as possible, and quite honestly if all you can do is listen to stuff thats on the radio , TV or only listen to stuff thats sold millions of albums then yes I do feel superior to you. I've made an effort to learn stuff , i've made an effort to find new things. You have the internet as well , there's no reason you can't find them either. Whether it be Chilean techno , Greenland hip hop , obscure Krautrock or post punk albums that never sold more than a couple of hundred copies , i've made an effort to find this stuff and if I find it more exciting , more innovative and just downright better than your alternative rock shite i'm going to fucking say so.

You keep on kidding yourself that there are good things to be found on Stadium fucking Arcadium and trying to convince others that this isn't the same shit they've been churning out for over a decade, you keep on listening to that whiney slaphead Corgan desperately trying to relive past glories. And i'll be checking out more new stuff that you would never even think of looking for when your waiting for that new turd of a Pearl Jam album to drop. So fuck you , enjoy your morose 10 years out of date middle of the road 'alternative rock' and don't start whining when I call it for the out of date shit it is.
This made me laugh alot. Anyways, an entry i would add(if it hasn't been added already) is people that talk about the technical profficiency of the musicians in bands. Its completely irrelevent.

I just don't think "current" hip hop stands up to the older stuff, it's all ****ty now. They're more worried about selling Ring Tones, and getting on MTV cribs, than making good music, just my opinion though.

I'm quite sure there's alot of hip hop out there that others dig, that i dislike? and it will continue to go that way. I just dont care for it.
I think you've just wiki'd hiphop and cherry picked sone credible acts from the golden age, because if you really liked these acts theirs no way you'd be making moronic, blanket statements like 'all hiphop is ****'.

Fuck that

Yes I can

The whole point of releasing music is to get people to listen to it. You notice there I said 'release' as opposed to 'make'. If every song you release is just a vehicle to show off your instrument noodling then do I fuck need to give you any credit for that. Doing that in my eyes makes you well practised , not talented.

Talent requires putting that aural masturbation you have endlessly practised into a piece of art where it can be appreciated. What's the point in having impressive solos if everything else surrounding it is a total crock of shit full of cliche after cliche?
If your writing songs with generic song titles and lyrics with absolutely nothing of interest to say about anything , and then putting 10 minutes of guitar wanking in the middle of it it's probably fair to say that maybe you should put the guitar down and try practising something else. Going out & getting some life experience would be a help rather than shutting yourself away endlessly practising your technique would be a start.

If you want to make shit like this keep it in your bedroom and don't expect me to be impressed.

I hate the fact that the majority of pop acts are now prominently featuring bands with real instruments backing them up. Don't get me wrong, I love the bands (I am in one), but hate that they are trying to look cool and have more cred just because they surround themselves with top gun players but pay them squat, not to mention blame them for screwing up when not being able to lip synch to the right song...Ashlee Simpson...cough...

I don't quite know how it happened but over the past 4 or 5 years I have come to the conclusion that mis-tagged MP3s have become a crime so heinous that it ranks right up there with genocide , ethnic cleansing & mass murder.

It never used to bother me that much. When I got my first PC around 9 years ago I was only on shitty dial up (In fact have you ever noticed now that when talking about download speeds you always have to prefix 'shitty' before Dial up) and it only had a 12 gig hard drive so music was never something I used it for give or take the odd hard to find B side that I would manually record onto mini-disc.

When I suddenly found myself in the possession of a better computer (80 Gig) , broadband and an 20 Gig Ipod 3 or 4 years later this is when I first noticed the horror of mis-tagged MP3s.

There are several types of offenders

01_People_who_flat_out_refuse_to_bother_how_to_use _a_fucking_space_bar

01 01 People Who
02 02 Put the track number
03 03 Where you only need to type the song title
04 04 So It shows up
05 05 Like this
06 06 All the fucking time

61_:_Mis-tagged_MP3s_01_People_Who
61_:_Mis-tagged_MP3s_02_Can't Use
61_:_Mis-tagged_MP3s_03_A_Fucking_Space_Bar

61_:_Mis-tagged_MP3s_06_The_album_title_and_the_artist
61_:_Mis-tagged_MP3s_07_In_every_fucking_song

Track 1
Track 2
Track 3
Track 4
Track 5

The last one with just 'Track 1' written is what prompted me to write this as I just downloaded an Electro Hippies album with 39 tracks on it and every single song was written as Track 1/Track 2/Track 3. I should have been happy that I got an album for free that I'd been after for ages, but the fact I had to sit down and spend ages changing 39 titles spoiled my enjoyment.
Ungrateful?
Hell yes , If you don't know how to tag an MP3 don't fucking upload them. Of course that means I lose out on an album I want and I'm being incredibly childish about the whole thing , but thats what 5 years of re-tagging MP3s does to you.

And please can my Ipod make it's fucking mind up about whether Psychocandy is by The Jesus And Mary Chain , Jesus And Mary Chain , The Jesus & Mary Chain or Jesus & Mary Chain. And not four seperate bands which it seems to think so at the moment. I'm beginning to wonder if all these newish post rock and indie bands using names with lots of stupid punctuation are doing this for this very reason , just to wind people up.

I swear all this stuff will send me into an early grave. If this list was in order this would probably be No 2 judging from the amount of 'fucks' in it.
Most true rant I've ever read.

106 YouTube Tributes

For the sake of this post I shall be selecting a song at random.

The song that came up was April Skies by The Jesus & Mary Chain.

Now say I want to find a video of this song on YouTube. As usual I have to scroll through endless shitty mobile phone taken videos as I mentioned earlier but now I have a new horror to sort through. Fan made tributes.

I'm not talking about fan made videos that use the original song , those can sometimes be quite good. I'm talking about finding a video of a song you like only to discover it's not the band you like at all. It's prick sitting on a sofa plucking his way badly through your favourite song with an acoustic guitar in a sad attempt to impress both his friends.

Look ! If I want to watch a Jesus & Mary Chain video I want big 80s hair , feedback , attitude. I don't want to see your fat pasty face murdering a song I like. And what's worse is you still put the name of the band and the song in the title and don't bother to mention it's you doing the song until you see the video's description AFTER you've loaded the page.

Are William & Jim Reid sitting on the sofa with you?

No they're not so don't call it a Jesus & Mary Chain video you fucking moron. Why not write as a title Here's me ruining a classic Mary Chain song so we all know where we stand.

Awful band indeed, Great movie though.. that is if you don't find Jack Black completely annoying.

You had many good points along the way I really like what you've wrote about the Beatle fans, and of course you also had a good opening act.I got to number 68 on your list and felt like I wanted to kill myself out of boredom, as it is I played with my kitten instead. :o) Bean is adorable. Anyway but this list as funny and as sarcastic as it may be it felt as long as Cast away.. Good job though.

Too true. The worst part is that from what I've a lot of official videos are being taken offline, so we'll probably be seeing a lot more of these and fanmade clips instead of the actual footage one might have been looking for. Bit of a pain really.

The post about messed up MP3 tags is so dead-on. I'm pretty picky about how I want my music tagged, and I don't expect everyone else to follow that formula to a T obviously. I don't mind changing minor things. It's when you get an album that you drag into your library and you realize that the person who uploaded that literally has the songs listed in 12 or 13 separate albums on their collection, that is what gets me. It's the same with all my friends too, I have one who's offered me $20 to retag (and find, because he has no idea where on his computer most of his music actually is) all his music before he moves it onto his laptop for college. So far I've turned him down because I know it would take at least 2-3 days. It blows my mind.
