#83. The Guitar.

Where would I be without this instrument? Whether it is a discordant riff, skanking on a Ska track, picking on gentle Folk number, being slid upon on a blues track, droning on a shoegaze number or being caressed by David Gilmour. The guitar is probably 80% of my music collection and no matter how much I flit around musically, this instrument whether it's electric or acoustic will always be the bedrock of my musical leanings. May the axe reign supreme.

#82. Last.Fm.

There are many similar 'personalised' players out there but last.fm takes some beating. Even just having a linkable widget that shows people what you are listening to is cool enough but couple that with your own pages. A customisable radio station AND the fact that it recommends you new and similar artists (a feature I have never really taken full advantage of I have to say) and you have a genuine cool piece of kit on the net and it's British too. How long this lasts bearing in mind Pandora's demise, only time will tell. So get on there and make the most of it while you can.

I think Last.fm is good for a certain demographic. I don't really use it for much, mainly to scrobble what I'm listening to, but I think for people with a limited music collection it is a great way to discover music they wouldn't have had the opportunity to come across.

Quite a while , It's owned by CBS and they have deals with 2 of the 4 big record labels.
