Default In need of a playlist generator like the one in the PS3

If anyone has tried playing music while using the Folding@home application on the PS3 you know that there is an option to play songs according to a specific mood like calm, energetic, electronic etc. and it works really well. What really blew me away is that it can pick out songs that are calm from within an album that is primarily Metal ( case in point is 10,000 Days by Tool). Is there something similar that I can use on the computer? I'm sure when it uses a database to tag every single song with its respective genre/mood but I'm not aware which database etc.

I've never seen anything like that lets you pick things depending on your mood, Though there is things like www .pandora.com that lets you listen to music based on what genre of music you like, or choose to listen to similar artists like most every other thing like that.

I've emailed Sony about this as well but to no avail. This feature totally blows my mind because this is exactly what I need for my 30GB of music, I don't know what I want to listen to, I just know what kind of song I want to listen to.

Media monkey will let you do it, though you prob have to assign moods manually to each song

Yeah I've found that even WMP11 has a "Mood" pulldown menu under the advanced tag editor. However, I want something that can do it automatically from a database. The PS3 does this using All Music Guide's database but there is not much else that has such a license. The Godfather and some other programs used to be able to query AMG but not anymore because of Terms of Service violations. I downloaded MP3tag and tagrunner but neither goes into such depth as Mood, just the genre of the whole album.

There was a program around a while back called Moodlogic, which was supposed to do just this. Don't know if it's still made, but I'd say it is. Google for it and you may have some luck.
