Mainstream hip hop today only gets a bad rep because what the underground is producing is so much better in comparison.

It really depends what you consider mainstream.
MF Doom and Aesop Rock don't get any radio play, but both of them are very well known and respected among the hiphop community, so someone could consider them mainstream.

Just because an act is labeled as underground doesn't mean they can't have a huge following. I'm not arguing that the term underground isn't getting broad, but I think it's pretty clear what I'm refering to as 'mainstream'.

I wouldn't call Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You a monstrosity. I'm not a major fan of her at all but this song was incredible; the depth of her voice is amazingly beautiful

I really hate that Dave Matthew's Band song, what was it, Crash Into Me? Something like that? It really irritated me. Still does, that and everything Avril Lavigne pumps out.

Betty Davis Eyes by Kim Carnes... I shudder at the thought of that woman's voice.

It's a tie between "She Hates Me" by Puddle of Mudd and "Lips of an Angel" by Hinder.

Spinning Wheel by Blood sweat & tears is tied with Rubber Band Man by a 70's soul group I can't recall the name of. Hell on earth on for me when I was a little girl when they came on the radio.
