That is embarrassing that you'd hate a good song like that.

Can I buy a pound of swiss, Mr. Cheese factory?

Sorry, but Epic is the cheesiest song I've ever heard.
And not the kind of cheesy that's great because it's so bad... It's just... ugh... especially that voice!

I've always disliked the lyrics to Epic, but the music itself is more than adequate.

You don't get bugged by the sound of cats being stepped on I guess. Those vocals just sound ridiculous. Some of the instrumentation is fine, but that horrible rock&hiphop cheese thing just kills it. And when you have a squealing douche singing the sound of squished rodents and other small animals with that horribly pitched voice, it's just too big of a turnoff.

And yes, the lyrics are obscenely ridiculous.

I think a lot of that has to do with how music has progressed over the last 20 years. I doubt you would have felt the same way back then...

Bingo. It's the song that got me into FNM actually. And, yes, at the time "the rock & hip-hop thing" was something fairly unique.

I actually disliked it when I first heard it not long after it came out. Granted, I was only 9 or 10 at the time... but I certainly heard it a lot through the years... and although I can appreciate general musicianship more now than I did back then, that still hasn't changed my general opinion of it.

And I like a lot of older stuff. Even other cheesy 80's & 90's shit.
I just don't like that song and I never have. There doesn't have to be a rationalization to negate my opinion just because you don't agree with it.

Oh don't get me wrong... I wasn't saying I dislike(d) all rap rock that ever existed. I mean, I still love most of the stuff Beastie Boys put out in that vein, and when Rage first showed up on the scene I dug that, not to mention other lesser known acts that floated past from time to time.
FaithNoMore just sucked at it, imo.
The vocals pissed me off the most though. I mean... if you gave them a different singer, I probably wouldn't even be having this conversation right now.
