I have since 'grown up' as they say and opened up to a much wider range of music extending out to Jazz & Avant Garde.
I am now able to listen to actual 'noise' and it doesnt bother me lol (a guy called Merzbow comes to mind).
I remember Be Here Now used to be my favourite Oasis album at one point.
Dont get me wrong Im still into some 'Britpop' (more recentley Suede, whom I used to loathe) & my beloved Cast of course.
I suppose Oasis are not (or werent) a bad band for the average indie music fan but I have since realised that there is nothing really in their music to relate to. Especially their lyrics are total bollocks.
It was mainly just the tunes.
Also I think a lot of their 'popularity' is more so based on their attitude and image other than any musical 'genius' which is so often falsely claimed.
I still have all the old albums but I cant stand to listen to them now (cant handle the vocals and surprisingly I personally find the music bland & boring now-perhaps due to my venture into Metal & other genres(which for me are more exciting).
Also I agreed with the guy from Bloc Party (whom I dont really like either) when he said that Oasis made 'stupidity' hip.
Its interesting to see that people are still talking about them though lol

I liked Heathen Chemistry & Dont Believe The Truth.
I couldnt understand why at first but since I stopped listening to them and they fell out of my taste I have attributed it to their lack of diversity or evolution (i.e. every album sounds pretty much the same)

I think most of their albums were recorded on Cocaine & the album length is pretty much irrelevant to me.
In relation to your comment perhaps it would be fair to judge Oasis as a singles band. (others in my opinion are The Smiths & other Britpop bands).

I kinda noticed ... Dont worry youll come out of it and realise how crap they are lol. My advice is get some Neil Young. The album which got me 'out of' Oasis so to speak was 'Sleeps With Angels'.
Anyway even if you do still like them fair enough.
I just crave more intense/experimental/innovative/creative/meaningful/interesting music these days.

Alright I found the post where I had made that comment.
I wouldnt say they are a 'great' singles band as I no longer listen to them or like their music that much. I cant actually listen to them anymore as the voices really get on my nerves but yet before I could listen to them all day long for years & never got bored. Strange huh..

I saw it yesterday in the shop and went to buy it to find a very empty wallet. I only heard one song off it, so can't really put it there yet. Thanks though, im sure it will fill the 2009 slot sooner or later.

Hell yes. I already picked mine on a previous page (I think I included Rust in Piece and De-Loused) but many of these are probably in my top 5 for the respective years.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

lol i know the feeling but no wonder the shops are a ****ing rip off when it comes to cds. Dont you buy online? Ive bought all my cds online for about the past 4 or 5 years now. I recommend Amazon where you get good prices on marketplace & free delivery on all orders over a fiver. Also Play.com do very good deals and can get free delivery on all cds even from the marketplace.

Which 6?

If you're interested in any, and like what you hear on Lastfm or anything, just send me a PM.

There are also some youtube links to a fair few of these artists in my journal.
